The fully automatic pill dispenser that takes the worry out of dispensing medication to older or vulnerable people.
At pre programmed times the pill dispenser carousel rotates to allow the user to take the appropriate medication. An intermittent audible alert tone is provided as a medication reminder. The unit knows when the pill has been removed from the dispenser, so if the medication has not been taken after a preset time, a radio link to the IntelliLink will automatically call the control centre. The unit only dispenses the dosage due at that time thereby reducing the risk of ‘double dosing’.
As of Nov 2008, as a result of recent collaboration between the West Midlands Telehealthcare Network, Boots UK Ltd, Lloyds Pharmacy, and Pivotell Ltd, a protocol for the filling of automatic medication dispensers by pharmacies has been agreed.
