Environmental Control is a term used to describe the remote operation of household equipment and appliances that feature wireless technology developed primarily for use by the physically disabled and elderly to aid independent living.

Typically these include door locks, alarm and intercom, power sockets, lights, curtains, electric bed and chairs, TV, Satellite, DVD, Stereo, central heating, windows and doors, telephone, warden call system and carephones to name just a small sample.

Integrated with telecare sensor activation can also allow remote access so the call centre can automatically switch off lights or turn the water or gas off if these sensors are activated. Doors can also be remotely opened allowing emergency services or care professionals into the home if the user is unable.

These solutions gives the individual greater control over their home environment and allows the carer to develop a total care package by using the solutions to reduce risk within the home but also in conjunction with a telecare package enable emergency response if needed.

Giving this independence to users helps people to live at home for longer but also helps older people and people with a disability retain/maintain independence, promote well-being and reduce unnecessary admission to acute hospital and residential care.

Our range starts from simple ‘plug and go’ wireless environmental control solutions comprising of a transmitter (which is operated manually or triggered automatically) and a receiver (which activates a response) for a variety of applications as part of a care package (e.g. falls management or dementia care) to more advanced solutions.

Automatic Response Link Starter Pack

The Automatic Response Link starter pack is designed as an overlay for the IntelliLink carephone to provide an immediate and local automatic environmental control response to sensor activation (e.g. open window in response to CO detector being activated); the Automatic Response Link also makes it possible (when connected to the IntelliLink) for the call centre to operate the door latch or switch the TV on/off in response to a call alarm being activated.

Buddy Button

Auditory and tactile feedback. ‘Sticker’ version comes with sticker sheet. All versions come with rubber foam base to prevent slipping. Available in red, yellow, green and blue.

Cushion switch

Soft switch with cushion bag which can be removed and washed. Velco tape can be sewn onto the cover for mounting. Internal foam is designed to cushion the impact for users with gross motor problems. Auditory and tactile feedback.
