Warrington Borough Council have some great case studies to share with us regarding the Chubb Carer Alert. Please click on the links to find out more information and the benefits Carer Alert has provided not only to the user but to the family aswell.
Enid is a 66 year old female who is suffering from severe dementia and has had a recent stroke. She is living in her owner occupied bungalow, being supported by her daughter and son who take turns to stay with her day and night.
The main worries are that Enid gets out of her armchair whenever she is left alone, which is resulting in frequent falls so the family is being unable to have any sort of respite from her. Also during the night Enid gets out of bed and has had several falls. This therefore means that her family are getting very little sleep because of the fear of Enid getting up and them not hearing her.

Margaret is a 77 year old female who is suffering from advanced dementia. She lives with her husband in their owner occupied house. Margaret tends to like to go to bed early and this gives her husband some time to himself to relax downstairs.
The presenting issues are that Margaret regularly gets out of bed and finds her way downstairs; her husband has some hearing loss so is usually unaware that she is out of bed until she is behind him in the lounge. He is finding it increasing hard to be able to relax in the evening because of the constant worry of Margaret falling down the stairs.

Thomas an 84 year old gentleman who lives with his daughter and family in their bungalow but is suffering from short term memory loss and repeated falls.
The main issues for the family is that during the night Thomas gets up several times and is having repeated falls, the only way his daughter feels she can minimize this is to sleep with her and Thomas’s bedroom doors open so that she can see and hear him attempting to get out of bed.
