Flintshire County Council Upgrade BT 21CN
In 2004 Flintshire County Council undertook a large project to ensure that all of their schemes were BT 21CN compliant.
During the analysis, it was found that some of their systems would not comply with BT 21CN and some were over 21 years old so these would need to be replaced.
A decision was taken to upgrade 22 schemes with new warden call systems and 17 mini schemes with dispersed alarms, all upgrades were to include telecare and as a basic package all upgrades include pull cords, smoke detectors and heat detectors.
Flintshire decided to design the upgrades so that all systems are future proofed for telecare, giving them the option that if additional sensors are required that these can be added to meet the individuals’ needs, this will be provided on a needs basis assessed by Flintshire social services.
After considering all options available to Flintshire County Council, a decision was taken to work in partnership with Chubb Community Care for the upgrade
schemes, funding for the upgrades was to be provided by a pressure bid within Flintshire County Council.
Flintshire has worked with Chubb for over 21 years and have developed a good working relationship. Combining best value, training, cost effectiveness, reliability and maintenance was a high priority for Flintshire and this has been deliverable by Chubb over the years.
